What it means
In a gantry/tandem pair the follower axis lags the master beyond tolerance - the pair is pulling against itself.
Likely causes
- one side mechanically stiffer/looser (lube, gib, brake not releasing)
- one drive weaker or dropping enable intermittently
- feedback scale/encoder on one side drifting or losing counts
Triage note: Compare F.E. displays of both axes at standstill: the side with the non-zero lag is the suspect side.
