What it means
Execution of the PLC main (PRG) module exceeded the time budget configured in PLC parameter WAGPRG (P0), or the program entered an endless loop. The watchdog trip stops all axes and spindle and raises the external emergency because the enable chain can no longer be serviced. It reflects PLC program load/timing, not drive hardware.
Likely causes
- overloaded main module (too much logic per cycle)
- endless loop in ladder/program logic
- WAGPRG (P0) set too tight for the installed program
- slow PLC settings (CPUTIME P26 / LOOPTIME P72) mismatched
Triage note: Increase WAGPRG or optimize the loop; on old units a CPU TURBO upgrade was the classic remedy for chronic watchdog trips.
