What it means
On drives with serial absolute feedback (90xx error class), the absolute encoder self-diagnosis reports permanent internal damage.
Likely causes
- absolute encoder counting/optics failed
- multi-turn data corrupted after battery neglect (see 9043-9048 battery alarms)
- lightning/surge damage on feedback lines
Triage note: First clear battery-voltage companions (E9047 <2.5 V / E9048 <3.1 V): replace batteries and re-home; only persistent E9052 after fresh batteries justifies encoder/motor replacement.
