Fagor alarm 5010: Division by zero at the PLC

What it means

A DVS or MDS instruction in the PLC program used a denominator equal to zero, an illegal arithmetic operation. The result register is left untouched and the error is raised each time the instruction executes. Guard divisions with a preceding CPS comparison or clamp the divisor.

Likely causes

• register holding divisor is zero at runtime
• uninitialized analog-scaled value used as divisor
• logic error after counter/timer rollover
