What it means
One or more remote nodes dropped off the CAN bus during operation - the error sub-code tells how many were lost (CANfagor) or identifies the silent module (CANopen). Typical triggers are node resets from supply dips, short circuits or marginal contacts. Diagnosis mode lists which modules remain recognized.
Likely causes
- 24 V supply dips resetting a node
- CAN connector vibration damage / broken conductor
- short circuit on node I/O dragging down the node
- node electronics failure
Triage note: Sub-codes: -3/-4/-5/-1/-6 map to 1/2/3/>3 nodes lost on CANfagor bus; 2/3/4 are CANopen timeout, toggle-bit and wrong-state respectively.
