What it means
At power-up the checksum computed over the battery-backed memory did not match the stored value - the retained data (parameters, program memory) has been corrupted or was never validly written. Typically seen after total battery loss, a battery swap with power off, or first-ever power-up of an uninitialised unit.
Likely causes
- Battery discharged completely while control was off
- Memory backup interrupted during battery replacement
- Genuine memory device failure
Triage note: After fitting a fresh battery, reload all parameters and programs from a known-good backup; there is no way to recover corrupted SRAM contents.
