What it means
Inverter: IPM alarm (L axis) - intelligent power module latched overcurrent/short; overheat variant reported by CNC as SV0603.
Likely causes
- IPM/IGBT power-stage failure inside SVM
- Phase-to-phase or ground fault in motor power leads
- Motor winding short circuit
- Harsh duty / high ambient causing IPM overheat (OH variant)
Triage note: THE classic Fanuc drive killer. Isolation test: disconnect motor leads - persistent alarm = dead SVM. CNC companions SV0449 detail 8. and SV0603 (OH). Repair shops confirm IPM failure dominates this code.
