Fanuc alarm 89: Submodule SM (SSM) error

What it means
On αi systems driving BiS-series synchronous spindle motors, the submodule SM (SSM) attached via JYA4/CX31 is abnormal. If the machine previously ran normally the cause is usually disconnection or SSM failure rather than software support.
Likely causes
- SSM not supported by installed SPM
- SSM not mounted or interface cable (JYA4-CX31) disconnected
- SSM unit faulty
