What it means
The spindle position error counter overflowed while the spindle was being controlled as a positioning axis (rigid tapping, Cs contour control or synchronization). Accumulated lag between commanded and fed-back spindle angle grew beyond the counter capacity, meaning the loop lost track entirely rather than merely following poorly.
Likely causes
- Position-loop gain far too low for the mechanics
- Spindle mechanically prevented from moving (brake, jam) during a servo-mode command
- Loss or severe corruption of position feedback mid-move
