Fanuc alarm STATUS2:8., 9., A.: Inverter IPM alarm L/M/N axis (servo unit)

What it means

On the βi SVPM, STATUS2 codes 8. (L axis), 9. (M axis) and A. (N axis) indicate an IPM (intelligent power module) trip in the corresponding servo axis bridge, reported to the CNC as SV0449 or SV0603 (IPM OH). Isolate by disconnecting the axis motor leads and retesting.

Likely causes

• Short between motor power leads or ground fault
• Motor winding short circuit
• Failed IPM in that axis of the SVPM
• (OH variant) harsh duty / high ambient temperature
