Fanuc alarm SV0409: DETECT ABNORMAL TORQUE

What it means
An abnormal load was detected on the servo motor, a Cs axis, or spindle positioning axis during operation. Unlike most SV alarms this one can be cleared with RESET, allowing you to probe whether the condition repeats consistently at the same location or load. Persistent detection warrants checking for mechanical binding, tool collision aftermath, or motor problems.
Likely causes
- Mechanical binding, crash damage, or way lubrication failure
- Excessive cutting load
- Brake not releasing on vertical axis
- Motor bearing deterioration
