Siemens alarm 1031: Link module generated an unspecified error

What it means
The link module of an NCU has reported an error condition that the NC could not interpret, for example because an expected parameter was not found or the connection to a linked NCU failed internally. Like alarm 1030 it indicates a problem inside the multi-NCU link subsystem and normally requires Siemens diagnosis.
Likely causes
- Unspecified internal fault in the link module
- Failure of the connection between coupled NCUs
- Link hardware defect on one of the involved NCUs
