What it means
The programmed lead reduction in a tapering thread block is greater than permissible. A steeply decreasing lead would drive the effective lead negative before the block ends, which has no physical meaning. The decrease rate must keep the instantaneous lead positive throughout the block.
Likely causes
- Lead-decrease value too large per revolution
- Lead ramp ending near zero lead within one block
- Incorrect sign or unit when programming the lead change
