What it means
A position measuring system fitted with a contamination-signal output (e.g. EXE-family exposed glass scales) reported dirt on the optical track to the NC. Machining continues to end of program, then POWER ON is required; the scale must be cleaned per manufacturer instructions before signal loss stops the axis completely.

- Contaminated linear scale optics (oil mist, chips, dust)
- Failed sealing lips on scale housing
- False contamination signal from damaged cable or electronics
