Siemens alarm 20001: [Channel %1: ] Axis %2 no cam signal present

What it means

Reference point approach was started, but the NCK never received a signal change from the reference cam input. Without a cam edge the following zero-mark evaluation cannot begin, so the referencing run is terminated.

Likely causes

• reference cam switch defective or mechanically out of adjustment
• open circuit in the cam signal line or connector
• PLC program does not pass the cam signal to the NCK interface
• input byte/bit assignment for the cam signal incorrect in machine data
