Siemens alarm 2102: NCK battery alarm

What it means

The undervoltage monitoring of the NCK battery responded while the system was powered up, i.e. the battery was already flat while the NCK memory had to be supplied from it. Machine data may have become invalid; after replacing the battery a series commissioning data reload (NC archive) is usually required. Treat every occurrence as a warning that the last power-off period ran without valid battery backup.

Likely causes

• Battery completely discharged before replacement
• Battery missing or disconnected during the last power-off period
• Long storage time of the machine without mains power and with dead cell
• Faulty battery holder contact preventing charge retention circuit from sensing the cell
