Siemens alarm 2140: The actual service switch position forces the SRAM to be cleared at the next Power On (general reset active)

What it means
The initialization (service) switch on the NCU is currently set to overall reset, so the complete NC data memory (SRAM) will be erased at the next power-up. All machine data, part programs and offsets would be lost unless the switch is returned to normal operation before restarting. This is a warning alarm intended to prevent accidental total resets.
Likely causes
- Service/init switch left in general-reset position after maintenance or data recovery
- Switch actuated accidentally during work inside the NCU box
- Loose or defective switch mechanism
Triage note: Return the switch to normal operation and power-cycle only after backing up data; clearing requires acknowledging per alarm help.
