What it means

During referencing of the position-controlled spindle no reference mark was detected within the permitted traverse. The spindle remains unreferenced and position-dependent spindle operations stay blocked.

Likely causes

• spindle encoder zero-mark track contaminated or defective
• search velocity/window parameters for spindle referencing unsuitable
• encoder coupling slipping so marks are missed
• wiring/screening faults corrupting the mark pulses
