What it means

The referencing method configured for the spindle is not supported by the attached measuring system, for example when an encoder without marks is asked to reference like an incremental encoder. Configuration and hardware must be matched.

Likely causes

• mismatch between encoder type (MD 30240) and reference mode (MD 34200)
• distance-coded/absolute encoder handled with incremental referencing data
• machine data edited incorrectly after encoder exchange
