Siemens alarm 400553: Fault on PROFINET bus

What it means
The PLC registered an error on the PROFINET I/O bus used for distributed peripherals on 840D sl. As with the DP variant the message is intentionally unspecific: some PROFINET device or the link itself is disturbed. Verify the I/O devices, cables and switches on the PROFINET subnet and clear the fault.
Likely causes
- PROFINET device failure or loss of link
- Damaged Ethernet cable/connector or faulty switch port
- IP/device-name configuration conflict
- EMC problems on the plant network
