Siemens alarm 61000: No tool offset active

SINUMERIK function alarm · Siemens 840D/810D powerline

What it means

A machining cycle was called although no tool length offset (D number) is active, so the cycle cannot relate its calculated positions to a real tool point. Siemens requires the D correction to be programmed before the cycle call. The cycle aborts until a valid tool offset is selected.

Likely causes

  • T word programmed without a D number before the cycle call
  • Tool change logic suppressed the offset activation
  • Program edited so the cycle call moved ahead of the tool selection block
