Siemens alarm 61001: Thread lead incorrectly defined

What it means
A threading or tapping cycle found contradictory values between the programmed thread size and the resulting lead. Per the Diagnostics Guide this alarm is triggered by CYCLE84, CYCLE840, CYCLE96 and CYCLE97. The cycle stops before cutting an unusable thread.
Likely causes
- Pitch (PIT) parameter inconsistent with thread diameter/type
- Metric/inch mixing in thread parameters
- Lead value conflicts with spindle gearing or encoder limits
