Siemens alarm 611U-F511: Ground fault detected

What it means

The 611U ground-fault test measures whether phase currents exceed response threshold P1167, or whether the shaft moves more than permitted (P1168) during the test - both indicate leakage to earth in the motor circuit. Diagnostics parameter P1169 holds the detailed result.

Likely causes

• insulation fault in motor winding (damp, thermally aged)
• chafed or crushed motor power cable / coolant in connector
• earthed screening braid contacting a phase inside the connector
• measurement asymmetry (false trip) - verify via P1169 and megger test
