Siemens alarm F30630: SI MM: Brake control error

What it means

The Safety Integrated function on the Motor Module detected a brake-control error and initiated STOP A. The decimal fault value localizes the problem: errors opening/closing the holding brake (p1278 settings, missing brake, wire breakage, ground fault in the brake cable, shorted brake winding), faults in the brake control circuit or CU-to-MM communication, and Safe Brake Adapter/Module states including brake released for service via X4.

Likely causes

• motor holding brake not connected, wire breakage or ground fault in brake cable
• short-circuit in the brake winding
• incorrect p1278 parameterization (only p1278=0 permissible with SBC)
• DRIVE-CLiQ communication error between CU and Motor Module
• defective Safe Brake Adapter/Module; EMC/shield routing deficiencies
