Siemens alarm F31100: Encoder 1: Zero mark distance error

What it means

The measured distance between consecutive zero marks does not correspond to the parameterized zero-mark spacing (p0424 linear / p0425 rotary). For distance-coded encoders the drive derives position confidence from these spacings, so a deviation means the incremental and reference tracks disagree. The fault value holds the last measured zero-mark distance in increments with sign of motion direction.

• encoder coupling slipping or scale contaminated/damaged
• EMC-induced signal distortion on the encoder cable
• wrong zero-mark spacing parameterized (p0424/p0425)
• aging or soiled encoder scan unit
• defective encoder or encoder cable
