Siemens alarm F31111: Encoder 1: Absolute encoder internal error

What it means

The absolute encoder's own fault word reports an internal problem. Group 0 bits cover failed illumination, low signal amplitude, incorrect position value, internal supply over/undervoltage/overcurrent and battery end-of-life; group 1 bits cover amplitude out of control range, multiturn/EEPROM/SAR converter faults and internal error-pin activation. Bits in group 0 generally mean replace encoder (or motor if the encoder has direct DRIVE-CLiQ); supply-voltage bits first warrant checking the SMC/cable path.

• encoder scanning head/LED defective
• internal 5 V supply fault in encoder or feed path
• battery exhausted on battery-backed multiturn encoders
• motor with integral DRIVE-CLiQ encoder failing internally
